Tips For Eating Out If You’re Vegan and Gluten Free
I’m relatively new to the vegan gluten free eating lifestyle. I changed my diet about 18 months ago to address some health challenges. I prefer to make my own food but sometimes my schedule doesn’t permit it. I regularly find myself in restaurants having to navigate the culinary landscape that is most often, and predominately, full of meat, dairy and flour. Not just in the United States but in other countries as well. And the landscape is treacherous. I’m serious. I mean yes I’m also being dramatic but when one is hungry and the only food for miles around is food you can’t eat, it feels treacherous.
Being only vegan or only gluten free is one thing but being BOTH. Being BOTH?! Being both is asking for trouble because the options are extremely limited. It’s virtually impossible to find something that is both vegan and gluten free. So, if you are like me — vegan AND gluten free, then I consider you an ally. A member of the same elite squad of “fussy” eaters. Over the past year and a half I’ve picked up a few tools that have made eating out easier for me. I’ve shared them below and I hope they help you.
